The more urban cousin to the villagey Hampstead, Belsize park is still reassuringly upper-class and expensive. The area is very pleasant with a leafy main street with lots of cafes and restaurants. The area has a nice, quite oldy, worldy feel; the streets are wide and green with beautiful tall white buildings. Belsize Park continues the theme of nearby Hampstead, St. John's wood, Primrose Hill (though definitely not Camden): stately, conservative, old, exorbitant. There are some very nice, old pubs; the restaurants are reassuringly expensive and pretentious. This being quite a conservative area, I think you can safely say that things haven't changed much here in recent years and they're not likely to anytime soon. The average resident here is somewhat older and well-off. It's quiet here to the point of being dull which is probably the way most residents prefer it.
