Muswell hill is a pleasant, middle class suburb of North London...

Along with Crouch end, Hornsey, East Finchley and Highgate, Muswell Hill is what North London living is supposed to be like (as opposed to nearby Wood Green and Finsbury Park).

It's slightly upper middle class; there are lots of families - it's a fairly quiet, leafy green residential area with lots of large and beautiful period properties. It's really very nice!

Despite the odd pound and kebab shop, the centre of Muswell Hill retains its period feel with a decent selection of shops and restaurants.

It's a safe area. It's popular with families so anything over two bedrooms is going to cost you. It might be a bit quiet and a bit far from central London for the trendy young professional but I think renting a one / two bed flat is not overly extortionate here.
