Angel is the trendy part of Islington based on Upper street and stretching (slightly) down the Essex road (i.e. not into Hackney).

Angel is an example of what high streets should be with all manner of interesting shops, cafes and restaurants. There's an arts house theatre and a block of shops containing nothing but antique shops. It's a great day or night out even if you don't live here.

Of course the developers don't care that Angel's success is due to the character of the unique shops. The plan at the moment is to tear down the block of antique shops and replace it with a shopping centre which will contain the usual delights of McDonalds, KFC and Primark.
