Stoke Newington N16 Guide Print E-mail
Stoke Newington retains most of its Hackney pedigree and edge but is becoming increasingly trendy with lots of young professionals moving here.

I guess you can tell which way the wind is blowing when the Whole Foods Market sets up shop in Kensington and... Stoke Newington.

The appeal of Stoke Newington is its somewhat bohemian feel which is best found on Church Street - full of funky shops, cafes  and boutiques.

Stoke Newington borders Islington and residentially retains Islington's somewhat upper market (and pleasant) feel as you approach from that side. The feel is much more Hackney as you approach from the South and the East.

The kingsland Road is much the same here as it is in Dalston and the rest of Hackney (a bit rubbish really) but this is changing rapidly with Stoke Newington's increasing gentrification. As ever when a place becomes trendy in London, there is *lots* of development going on in the area.
