Probably my favourite part of East London, Bow  manages to combine a down to earth feel, a gorgeous park, a reasonably nice town and market with good transport links.

Bow is leafy and clean and fairly close to the nighttime hotspots in Shoreditch. Apparently Amy Winehouse has a flat here.

Bow has a market on the Roman road and lots of new developments South of Tredegar road. The areas around Victoria Park are generally desirable and there are some very nice properties beside the canal. Bow is becoming quite trendy, I think, and unlikely to remain affordable for very long.

Noone is going to mistake Bow for Richmond (a stately town in West London). There are no cricket pitches here; there are lots of council estates and Starbucks has yet to make an appearance.

The good news is that the people who like it here are put off by the pretentiousness (and price) of West London and wouldn't dream of stepping foot in a Starbucks.
