Living in Shepherd's Bush Guide

Shepherd's Bush has great transport links; is somewhat affordable given its location in West London but a bit rough around the edges.

Shepherd's Bush is centred on Shepherd's Bush "Green", a small expanse of grass that perhaps could be more accurately called Shepherd's Bush "holding area for kebab wrappers and lager cans" or Shepherd's Bush "happy napping area for drunks and mad people". After long hours of scientific analysis in the pub, my mates and I have concluded that there is an unusually high proportion of lunatics in Shepherd's Bush (and in London, that's high). For unknown reasons the Aussies are drawn here in quite large numbers.

The nicer parts of Shepherd's Bush border Hammersmith, Chiswick and Olympia (and, to a lesser extent, Acton.) The rougher parts border White City which, whilst having undergone somewhat of a renewal in recent years is really quite a rough place. There is reasonable colour along the Uxbridge road and there is a market near the Goldhawk Road tube station (mind your wallet).

In entertainment terms the highlight would have to be the Shepherd's Bush Empire - one of London's better known live music venues.
