Along with Balham, Streatham (and indeed Clapham) used to be really quite a rough area. There will be those who will argue that not much has changed in Streatham but I can tell you from personal experience that a lot of people are moving here and, in parts, it can be very nice with lots of good pubs, restaurants and transport links to central London.
The success of Clapham in recent years and subsequent rocketing rental and house prices has spilled over into the area and made Streatham very popular with young professionals and families.
Residentially the area continues the pleasant green and leafy feel of Clapham, Wandsworth and Tooting common. The area around Streatham common is particularly nice.
